Introduction

Pascal's Wager is a kind of disagreement in philosophy offered by French Philosopher renowned in the 17th century. He theorized that human bet with their lives in either yes or no based on God existence. He argued that a rational person lived as if God is there and also believing that God exists.

About Pascal Wager

Pascal's Wager idea was centred on the religion of Christian God, although the parallel arguments occurred in other religions as well.He added to his idea that if God does not really exist then the person who has faith and believe in God will have a determinate loss only such as bonus, pleasure etc. whereas he will obtain the countless gains which will be represented via eternity in heavens and which will avoid eternity hell or infinite loss.

According to Boaheng, (2016), Pascal goal is to convince the sceptical audience about the God existence and there is nothing to lose but to gain from having faith of God.

The wager was having the following logic: -

A person should be a wager.

• God is there, and God is not there, the reason between these two alternatives cannot be decided.

• In every game when played, there will be turning up of heads and tails.

• There should be weighing of gain or loss in wagering God, and there will be a possibility of two chances, there will be gain then one will gain all, and if one loses, then there will be nothing to lose.

• There are infinite ways of living a happy life; chances of gain are there against a finite number of chances to be loose. The stake is limited, and our scheme is having infinite force. Further, if there is a set limit to participate in a game then there will be an identical chance of the possibility of addition or defeat but unlimited to gain.

• It is true that some will not believe, but one should learn the inability to not believe.

Criticisms of Pascal's Wager

One of the French writers named Voltaire rejected the idea of Wager and suggested that the idea of Wager about "Proof of God" is "childish and indecent". He added further the interest from a person to believe in God cannot prove that such mechanism occurs or not. However, Pascal's Wager did not advance the Wager as resilient of God existence; rather he gave an important pragmatic decision which is not possible for any person to avoid.

Furthermore, abstaining from wager making is not an option; rather it is a cause of incapability of divining the reality. The decision of God existence or not must be based on the consequences of each possibility (Galen, 2015). He argued on the way the Pascal tried to promote was not at all convincing but not on the environment of Pascal's wager for the impervious of God existence. He also added that it does not make sense that how far is the temptation of someone to believe in Salvation of Christian, the result will be indistinct confidence. Consequently, he agreed on stating of Pascal that it's on the choice of people to have faith in as some cannot believe.

A French Philosopher, Etienne Souriau agreed with Pascal argument and explained that God seriously has the intention to honour the bet(Woods, 2011). But he disagreed on the assumption of God also accepts the bet. He added that the better of Pascal is like fooling people for seeing leaf floating of river waters and then quivering at a particular point for some seconds(Galen, 2015)

There was also an argument on the basis of inconsistent revelations. Some arguments were based on the thought that some people may believe in wrong God which thus deletes the mathematical advantage of the claim of Pascal with his Wager. There was another version of the argument that every religion which propagates the rule, then there is the existence of another rule which has different rules opposing the other religion rule. If one of the actions is close to deliverance, then in the prior religion then one religion will further be away in latter. Hence the expected value of following any religion will stand negative. Furthermore, there are infinite ways of mutually exclusion religions, and hence the expected value of certain religion will become zero(Woods, 2011).

David Wetsel, one of the philosophers said the treatment of Pascal is brisk. He further added that the expiration of the Pagan religionof ancient times speaks for itself and is considered as lifeless end as similar to paganism(Rota, 2016). There were other many objections which were that the dominance of Wager will be affected only when there will be infinite happiness rewardsand the bliss of something including the challengingconcept of offering from God should be exclusive. Further trusting in one generic God or God with erroneous name and is acceptable as long as the origin of God is the same as the origin of God described in Pascal's Wager, i.e. the God of Aristotle. Other arguments were for those who cannot believe will be based on the feigning belief for gaining an eternal reward. This will result in dishonesty and immoral. It will be aridiculous to think that God exist, there will be illusory strategy via being fair and well-informed on the part of believer and thus will invalidate the benefit of Wager.

On such arguments, Pascal replied that one who does not want to believe and resting content with many objections is people whose scepticism will be seduced in fatal repose (Rota, 2016). He further believed that is wager is valid then if someone is not able to believe is irrational and hence these are the feelings which are your inability to believe. There are the reasons which compelling you to believe and not believe and it can be from your passion as well. Inability to believe can be diminished via overcoming of the irrational sentiments.

I agreed with some of arguments discussed above. In my opinion, believing in God should be come from the person within. It should be on the person to believe as there is no gain or loss associated with believing and not believing. There cannot be said that loss and gain will be there on having faith on God.God exist or not is still one of the questions which are not solved by anyone. Having belief in God can has enormous implications on anyone life. The views, destiny and morality can be changed depending on the person faith and beliefs. For those people who have no believed in God are also surviving, living and achieving great things in life. Hence, it can be said that God exist or not is still having wide variety of arguments which can be said to be logical, subjective, empirical and metaphysical but ultimately it's up to the society to believe or not as there is no gain or loss with it.
