Introduction

Social Conflict is the aspect which relates to the struggle for the purpose of authority in the society (Sherif, 2015, p. 234). The essay is intended to present an overview of my own experience in terms of managing conflict by means of communication.

Thesis

To begin with, I was appointed as a group leader for a project at my college. As a result, I was entrusted with the management of tasks of my group members thereby allocating them the respective roles in order to complete the project. As a leader, I had to communicate with the team members to a great extent thereby ensuring the desired outcomes to be derived appropriately.

The communication in an effective manner played the key role in the active participation of all the team members in the meetings thereby being provided with a platform to present their opinions.

I also managed to convince those team members who did not appreciate my ideas initially. I provided an opportunity to all my group members to present their feedback over my ideas and I subsequently worked upon them in order to finish the project in the appropriate manner. I had also made available online discussion forums with regard to the conversations relating to the project thereby resolving problems effectively.

From the inference that is drawn through the book, Managing Conflict through Communication, I hereby suggest that a leader has to communicate with and engage the group members appropriately if any group project needs to be done comprehensively.
