What surprised you the most about your cooperating teacher/mentor's responses?

At first, the response of my cooperating teacher motivates me about the profession and the vision of developing leadership among students. With the interview I learnt that the most appropriate method of communication is face to face interaction. In particular, it is the responsibility of the teacher to develop a trustworthy relationship with the students, as a result of which the student can share about concerned problems of learning, the strength and weakness areas, and the way with which they can adopt forever learning (Kelchtermans&Vanassche, 2017).

I also learnt that, maintaining discipline is of utmost importance for maintaining a cooperative and learning environment in classroom. For instance this includes giving time after the school for the assigned task, proper record keeping, and maintaining in oriented behavior for routine work. These traits are important as I should not only be present during the school life, but also essential during the adolescent phase.

However, it is the responsibility of the teacher to plan and include suitable learning measures according to the learning style of individual students within the lesson plan.

How can you apply your findings to your future professional practice?

With this interview the first thing that I learnt his teaching focus should not be on learning the curriculum according to the grade of students but to render if forever learning that intern can contribute to development of leadership skills (Cosenza, 2015). A cooperating teacher must have the skills to integrate the available resources of the school, the opportunity to plan the lessons, and using the established classroom management plan to create a supportive learning environment.

More importantly, I will apply the professional dispositions quality such as the belief that every student can learn, importance of honesty and responsibility, and developing a sense for social justice among the students, as a part of my future professional practice (van Ginkel, van Drie, &Verloop, 2018).
